X3 terran conflict skidrow2/20/2023 You can click on it and then select auto pilot, but IMO if you can see it then its not worth using auto pilot, instead manually fly and use SETA. There are a few different ways to auto pilot to things, but I usually open the system map click on what I want to go to in the list on the right, and select auto pilot. Its bound to the j key by default and can be used in space anywhere not on top of a space station or next to another ship. Remember how it was like learning EvE in the beginning? That's the same thing, if not a little worse in the X Series. All of that is done with ship software you don't use in the beginning.īasically, you know how EvE is called a MS Excel lovers dream? Well, the X series gets just as complicated but similar to EvE there is no real tutorial on anything. In the future you will be creating fleets, sending them off to trade for you based on best prices, travel time, etc. The game is extremely complex but most of the complex stuff you don't need to learn in the beginning. There are a lot of keys to press and even if you have been playing for a while you will often forget about something. I am a former EvE player as well and I completely understand where you are going with things and did not mean to sound like a pr|ck.īest thing to do is print off a system map which you can find via a Google Search, and print off a keyboard layout also via Google. The menus are a PITA, no real tutorial, no mission logs, etc. I bought X3: Reunion boxed many years ago and after an hour of playing throw it in a closet, deleted it off my hard drive and didn't return to the game for three years. Ok, I need to stress, X Games take a lot of time to get used to and they are obnoxious as hell to learn. This guys website have everything you need: If this post is TL/DR then here is what you need: I mean this as a non-personal-attack only advice you sound new to the X Series of games fly manually until you get to know the game and how it works, it will help you learn the game faster. It's posts like this which lead EgoSoft to dumb down Rebirth to appeal to the masses instead of the hard core space sim fans who have always supported the X series games. In space sims its getting like real life with pilots relying on auto pilot too much just fly the damn ship yourself! X3 games are not casual arcade space shooters, and while they lack authentic physics to be real simulators, they are more like a sim than an arcade shooter. I only use auto pilot when I am getting up to do something else quickly and even then I make sure there is nothing in my path and SATA is off. Or just fly manually instead of taking the easy way out? Its much faster as the auto pilot takes the long way around and follows the docking lights, where manually you can just fly directly to the dock ignoring having to line up with it and take the long ride down the docking lights.
